#10. Ride a Train

Guess what? --I can cross that off the bucket list! :)

I was visiting my grandparents on spring break and they were gonna drive me back to Reno because they live in Sacramento and it's only about a 3 hour drive. But the weather changed those plans. It snowed overnight on the path they were gonna drive, and they were afraid of having to drive back in bad weather. So we checked if there were any flights I could take to get there quick and easy. Nope. The only flights were ones that went to San Francisco and then back to Reno, and the tickets cost about $500! Insane and not an option. My grandma has traveled on the train before so we found that the train was the best option--even though it was going to take 5 hours, it only cost $50. So there we have it. It was settled that I was going to ride the train back to Reno! I was kinda excited because it was something I have never experienced before and it was on my bucket list.

When I got on the train, I had noo idea what to do, so I just sat down next to this lady that looked nice. And she was. Her name was Valerie and she was 39. That's about the same age as my mom. She was headed to Chicago, which is about a 2 day trip...crazyness! When I sat down and got settled, I decided to listen to some music and write in my journal that I haven't made an entry in a month. I'm trying to start to write in it everyday. Anyways, as we were riding along Valerie and I made a little conversation. Once I was done writing in my journal- which took up about 2 hours- I realized I was really hungry, so I decided to go find something to eat. Valarie decided to come with me and I got a sandwich and some chips. We sat down in the dining area where there was a huge window to see the beautiful scenery. After we were done, we went up to the top floor where the whole car was windows so that everyone could see. There were soo many trees covered in snow and the truckee river was beautiful to see. I took some pics and Valarie took a pic of me by the window. That was pretty much it. Just talking to her and looking at the scenery, and texting my friends along the way. It actually went by pretty fast!

Now I can say that I've traveled on a train :)
